Wife, mother of a spunky almost 3 year old and afirst year middle school step-son. Talk about different hormones floating around this household! I am blessed to work from home as an Online Heath and Fitness Coach. I used to be a PE teacher at a local middle school, but I quickly knew that is not where my heart was and I did not want to make a 30+ year career of it. My daughter gets to be here with me for most of the days which makes working a little tough, but I love getting to be around for all the goods and not so goods of being a stay at home/working mom. Three days a week she does go to a half day pre-school so that does give me a little "ME" time and work time. Sometimes I wish I could just pass out for a couple hours, but we all have wishes, right?
My husband works in a out of the home as a Regional Sales Director. He also coaches JV basketball for the local High School as well as runs his own camps and clinics through his business call Mid Range Game, LLC. So if you can't already tell, he is an extremely busy person. I forgot to mention that he also coaches my stepson's fall football team 3 nights a week and every Saturday. Not sure how he fits it all in and stays sane, but it just goes to show how everyone handles chaos differently. I am the structured, organized one and well, he just flies by the seat of his pants. I guess opposites really do attract.
I have a passion for learning all things in the health and fitness world. I am by no means perfect and I am not afraid to share. I am still learning what make my body feel good on the inside and in turn, look good on the outside. I love trying new foods as well as experimenting with new recipes. Some have turned out great and others have been a major fail. Nutrition has not always been easy for me. I love food and I love to eat, but I am TRYING to find alternatives to keep me satisfied and not in a way of restricting my calorie intake for the day.
The fitness portion of my life has always been pretty on track. NOW, I didn't say I have always know exactly what works and what is the best way to do things, but I have always been active. I was a three sports athlete in high school and went on to play four years of college volleyball. At this time in my life, the activity was there, but the nutrition was sub par at best. Too much late night food, "fad diets," beer, and junk. I "thought" I knew what healthy foods were back then, but man times have changed and I like to keep up with the times. It just down right interests me to learn how the body works with food as it's main source of fuel.Back to fitness.....
After leaving college, I swore I would never lift another weight or do another squat, lunge, or sprint. I would run, run, and run some more and that was the extent of my exercise for a long time. An occasional weight room session here and there, but again, I didn't "really" know what I was doing. I just hopped from machine to machine and did a few free weight exercises and called it a day.
Fast forward to pre wedding time......I had learned that the pounding on the pavement was contributing to my awful headaches and I was asked by a doctor to try something different for a while! WHAT?? I still ran on occasion, but I was introduced by late night infomercial to a workout program called Turbo Fire. HOLY COW, this was so much more fun than running for miles and miles on the same course! I even started to develop back some definition. I was hooked.Fast forward to post baby.....I was Turbo Fired out and I just wasn't feeling the running with a stroller. I needed another workout I could enjoy and do quickly in my own home. Insert T25....It was perfect, 25 minutes of heart pumping workouts with cardio and weights! I lost the last of my baby weight and I knew these were the workouts for me.
Present day....I am still using many in home workouts. I will go for an occasional run here and there, but I am learning how resistance training is the key to keeping my metabolism on fire. I am in better shape than I have ever been in, but I am still a work in progress. There will forever be new things to learn, new exercises to try and new nutrition to experiment with. This blog will be filled with information I gather as well as things I try myself. Some I will succeed with and others I will fail, but one thing is always for sure, I will be me and I will be real.
Welcome and enjoy!
